I’m Anna Star—filmmaker, fashion entrepreneur, and founder of Not A Word. After years of telling other people's stories in film and theater, I realized I hadn’t told my own. So, I set off on a journey of self-discovery, traveling to over 20 countries, working with the Olympic Games, touring with The Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and embracing new cultures and perspectives.
When I arrived in New York, I dove into creative passions like writing, filmmaking, and biking through the city’s vibrant streets. Along the way, I became a mom, adopted a dog, and experienced life’s many changes. But I still struggled to find a way to truly express who I was.
That’s when the idea for Not A Word was born. Frustrated by the lack of unique, inspiring jackets that reflected my identity, I envisioned a piece of clothing that could adapt to my multifaceted life—as a mom, traveler, and creator. A jacket that combined style, comfort, and individuality.
